WRA is currently seeking a traffic engineer in our York, PA office. We are a rapidly growing company, selected as the 2016 Design Firm of the Year by ENR MidAtlantic, ranked 118 by ENR, and have doubled both the number of employees and offices in the last 10 years. Our clientele includes a wide range of state and local agencies. Our Traffic Department works on projects within the mid-Atlantic region (PA, MD, DE, VA) as well as nationally. The work we do is challenging, interesting, and in many cases, on the leading edge of traffic engineering applications in the industry. Our traffic engineers conduct traffic safety/operations and planning studies; design traffic signals, signing, markings, roadway/parking lot lighting, work zone traffic control, and ITS devices; and develop or apply Synchro, SimTraffic, VISSIM, and VISUM models. 

Our clients have consistently recognized the hard work and responsiveness of our traffic engineers, as reflected in our excellent annual performance evaluations and through the award of repeat contracts.

Job Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Science, Civil Engineering
  • Excellent verbal and technical writing skills
Desirable Skills/Achievements:
  • EIT or PE certification
  • Experience working with public sector clients such as PennDOT, PTC, and/or local agencies
  • Experience with traffic operations models including Synchro/SimTraffic, VISSIM, VISUM, and HCS 
  • Experience in the design of traffic control devices including signals, signing, pavement markings, ITS devices and lighting
  • Experience working with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD 
Project assignments can range from small-scale intersection improvements to complex interchange and corridor improvements, as well as innovative multimodal transportation plans. Many assignments last only a few weeks or months, which will let you gain diverse experience under the supervision of an experienced transportation engineer or planner and see your work result in safer, more efficient and livable communities. Specific duties will include traffic operations/capacity analysis, traffic simulation modeling, safety studies, design of traffic control devices, development of Transportation Management Plans (TMPs), work zone traffic control, and lighting design.
